When A Suit Becomes A Stumbling Block

What is common in men in Limitless, The Great Gatsby, The Wolf of Wall Street, Godfather, Ocean's 11,12 and 13, Transporter, Casino, All the Bond movies and ............. ... . the list will go on .. Well I'll tell you it's men in suits. There is something about men in nicely tailored suits that attracts me to them. They look so refined, polished and classic. Gelled hair, tailored suit, matching shoes and a nice pocket square.. Man I am floored.. Period.

Style today is moving in the direction of subtraction.Simplicity, quality, integrity: This is the new extra 10 percent. Men will always need a suit their wardrobe, whether it be used for an interview, party, work, prom or wedding.

There are suits that have streamlined fits, solid colors, interesting textures. Shirts —white or pale blue, blank canvases each of them. And then there is the total lack of discernible flair—no colorful pocket squares, no wild socks, no jazzy plaids or bright colors. There's a word for this approach to dressing up—simple—and it works because the absence of look-at-me details or accessories can be the sartorial equivalent of silence speaking louder than words: a bold statement that signals clear intent and ample confidence.

Wool Flannel Suit - J.Crew - $650

My personal favorites are Flannel Suits. They look fresh as they come in  beautiful colors like the one above in dark cobalt. Flannel's appeal isn't all new, and it looks its very best when conservative, traditional fabric balances out a slim, cropped silhouette.

Bedford Flannel Striped Suit - Polo Ralph - $1295

Pinstripes plus flannel equals a patrician air that can easily take over the boardroom. Now you know why the wall street men are so appealing. It's not just their brains, but their suave sophistication can assault your senses altogether.

Grey Wool Flannel Suit - Ami - $895

One of flannel's best characteristics is its fuzzy, visual texture, a characteristic perfectly illustrated by the above suit by Ami. The suit looks so traditional but the polka vest completely changes the outlook and gives it a retro yet modern feel. Young Stylish Traditional Repeat

And if there is scorching heat outside then Linen and Seersucker are the two best friends that every gentleman should have in suit forms. The light weight fabrics has got generations of men through the dog days of summer.

American style, Parisian tailoring, and Italian wool can make one hell of a suit screaming - "I am a MAN and I will protect you'. Throwing your jacket over your shoulders, wearing white button down shirts, reading books, looking pensive are nothing but stumbling blocks for all those girls who are awestruck by men looking dapper in suits.

So go buy a suit that won't break your bank but will definitely be a killer to the opposite lot around you.
